Mata is always dressed in 100% silk saris. Mata’s Shringar is changed on a reoccurring basis usually every Friday and everyday during Navratri. If you would like to donate Mata’s Shringar and also have the Shringar returned to you, that can be arranged as well. Just contact EastBayHCC personnel and we will ensure Mata’s Shringar can be yours. Shringar includes: sari or lengha set, chunuri, jewelery, and flower garland. $251 with garland without garland $200. Only sari/lengha set and garland will be returned to donor.
Donating, changing, wearing Mata’s Shringar is a form of bhakti yoga. The Sanskrit word bhakti comes from the root bhaj, which means devotion to God. Bhakti Yoga is one of the three classical paths in Hinduism which lead to Moksha/Nirvana, the other paths being Jnana yoga and Karma yoga. The only requirement for Bhakti Yoga is an open and loving heart. Bhakti softens the heart and removes jealousy, hatred, lust, anger, egoism, pride, and arrogance. It infuses joy, divine ecstasy, bliss, peace, and knowledge. All cares, worries and anxieties, fears, mental torments, and tribulations entirely vanish. The devotee is freed from the Samsaric wheel of births and deaths. He attains the immortal abode of everlasting peace, bliss, and knowledge.
The ultimate goal in the practice of Bhakti yoga is to reach the state of rasa (essence), a feeling of pure bliss achieved in the devotional surrender to the Divine. Simply, Bhakti yoga at EastBayHCC means the art of worship.
